April: Cultivating the Flowers in Your Life,Or You are Already Doing Everything Right
They say April Showers bring May flowers. Gardening enthusiasts would beg to differ. Gardening enthusiasts might suggest May flowers come through researching the best fertilizers. They might debate natural versus chemical. They might also point out the flowers must be evenly spaced so when they do begin to grow, one flower does not choke another for resources.
For those Peter Sellers fans, this introduction may have put you in mind of his final film: Being There. Sellers played Chauncey Gardener. He provided gardening advice people took for life advice. I suggest all productivity comes from micro- and macro-goals, or short- and long-term goals.
The three arenas of life are: home, work/school, and the community. Most of us have found our time and attention diverted from one to the other at times. I hope you will always feel and believe you are enough. If your attention is diverted, it only means you have mastered the sublime art of multitasking.
Planning is important, even crucial. So is forgiving yourself. Just as you plan to maximize return for all the people, places, and things in your life, please always remember to include YOU in the equation.
You deserve to sit quietly and plan for your hopes and dreams. You deserve to give yourself permission to change the course on your path if you need to. YOu even deserve to change your goals if you want to!
You also deserve to feed your mind, body, and spirit. Flowers might require fertilizer, but you require a good battery recharging, and not just once in a while. Please make sure to give yourself at least one thing to look forward to everyday.
Treat yourself in little ways every day. Treat yourself by using your favorite hand washing soap. Be present in the moment and feel the water temperature. Feel the soap pea dissolve into glorious bubbles. Take your time and rub off all the soap. Go wild and use hand lotion afterward!
