March: In Like a Lion Out Like a Lamb, Or Suggestions to Replace Inner Turmoil with a Cooler State of Calm (Copy)

It is said the month of March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Sometimes our emotions can feel like that, too. Authorities talk about “riding the waves” of depression. Experts on meditation likewise suggest focusing on breathing and following the mind as it wanders to plans, or feelings, and then returning back to the breathing.

So much of therapy is working on acceptance. Accepting the great person you already are; accepting that we can’t change people, places, or things; accepting that we can only change the way we experience external factors.

Sometimes life throws a “curveball” like job loss, or divorce, or death. It is a truth that we are very easily able to adapt to the positive, the good. Adapting to a storm of emotions, whether from something external, or from our own biochemistry can be challenging.
